Highland Oaks Dothan Alabama
Located in the southeast corner of Alabama, Highland Oaks offers three nine-hole championship courses. Each nine has a different personality. Highlands, the core nine, is relatively open, with
several lakes in play. The peninsula green at the par-3 sixth is especially challenging. Marshwood has been made famous by its par-5 sixth, which stretches to 701 yards from the tips. The 422 yard ninth hole, a left to right dogleg, is arguably the best hole at the site and has a tilted green elevated above the wetlands. The Magnolia nine is well-named: specimen magnolia trees dot the higher ground, which is reached via a 1,000 foot long wooden bridge spanning a marsh filled with lichen-dappled trees. The feature hole is the 416-yard fifth, where a split-level fairway offers an option off the tee. The Highlands/Magnolia combination was named by Golf Digest as the 7th best new public course in America in 1994 and 31st in their list of America’s Top 50 Affordable Courses.
