Plan Your Golf Vacation

I grew up in Ashland, Ohio and made my way to Central Florida in 1993 with expectations of growing my golf game and taking my playing career more seriously. While down there I worked as an assistant professional at World Woods Golf Club n Brooksville, FL and then to Sugarmill Woods C.C in Homosassa, FL. Little did I know my golf career would end up short lived as I moved to Knoxville, TN in 1998 and got out of the golf business entirely. Other than a 1 ½ year stint in the Memphis area while my wife finished school I have remained in the Knoxville area and I love it!! In 2004 I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Sports Management / Business. I then worked in a high end recreation furniture company for a total of 14 years. In September of 2015 I was brought on to Golf Excursions / Mygolfvacation.com to take over the Tennessee, Mississippi and Tampa area territories. I am extremely excited to get back into the golf industry and build partnerships with the courses I represent as well as help guide the group leaders to make sure their trip is a positive one. Golf is the industry I had always expected myself to be in because it is always been my passion. I feel my playing experience as well as having resided in these area will allow me to be able to provide insight into the areas and courses that not everyone may be able to.

I am blessed to have an amazing wife (Angie) and 2 incredible kids in Hadley and Tripp. That I try to spend as much time as possible. I also enjoy being involved in my church and community, travel, sports, spending time on our boat and pretty much any other outdoor Oh yeah I still like to play a little golf even if my scores are not what they once were.

I grew up in Northern Michigan and started my golf career, so I completely understand the need for a golf vacation to the South during the colder months. In 2000 I moved to Williamsburg, VA to further my career. Since then I have made stops in Northern Virginia and the suburbs of Chicago, before returning to Williamsburg. During my travels, I have had the privilege of working at and playing several 4 1/2 star golf courses and golf resort properties. In September of 2012 I started handling golf packages for Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina with Golf Excursions. Now with almost 15 years of experience in the golf industry, through golf packages, outing coordination, membership sales, and management, I have always enjoyed being in the golf industry and around the game of golf! I have a beautiful wife(Amanda) and 2 amazing daughters(Quinn and Halle), which I enjoy spending as much time as possible with. I also enjoy being involved in my church and community, travel, sports, and pretty much any other outdoor activity.

I was born and raised pretty much on a moving truck. My father was a construction supervisor that floated from job to job so my mother, brother and I pretty much had to learn to go with the flow. I have lived in 13 different states and have been grounded in Knoxville, Tennessee ever since I came to The University of Tennessee, Knoxville in the fall of 1995. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations in 1999 and immediately went to work. I spent several years working for a governmental contractor which in turn led me to be introduced to my husband James of 22 years. James and I have had 2 beautiful daughters, Gracie who keeps us very busy with all her sporting and extra circular activities (but we wouldn’t have it any other way.) Maddie who unfortunately passed away at the age of 5 from a rare form of childhood cancer. After her passing, I developed a passion for children’s health initiatives and fundraising, and I have been in the non-profit fundraising world for the last 15 years working to help raise awareness and funds for Children’s Hospital and various other non- profit organizations. During 2020 and the years following, I felt something was missing and I realized it was me. So, after many years of working in “Corporate America”, I decided to take a step back to be more present with my family. I enjoy spending my free time working out, walking my dogs, spending time with family and friends, being involved with my community, and playing a little golf when I have the time.

I grew up in New Castle, Pennsylvania where I attended Slippery Rock University. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and decided to move to Virginia to pursue a career in teaching. I have taught for over 30 years and looking forward to a new career path with MGV. I have spent the last 12 years as a Math Specialist. Golf has always been something that I have always had a passion for. Since I had summers off as a teacher, I would get summer jobs at some courses in the area. I worked several years in maintenance at Ford’s Colony Country Club setting pins on the weekends at all 3 of their courses. I have also done cart duties at Stonehouse Golf Club and my favorite course of all time, Royal New Kent Golf Club. My most recent job has been at Kiskiack Golf Club working in the golf shop. My wife and I have 2 children, Haley is a Physical Therapy Assistant and Connor will be graduating from VCU with a degree in Computer Science. I have been working part time with MGV for the past year doing golf quotes for packages in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Kentucky. I love to golf, cook and spend time with my family by visiting breweries and wineries whenever we travel.

In the early 70’s while in the military I was transferred to the Washington D.C. area and after leaving the military I went to college at George Mason University and spent the next 30+ years in Northern Virginia. I began playing golf just as I was turning 40 and developed a fondness for the game. After a number of years of driving ranges and using a system of 5’s to keep score and measure improvement I joined a local country club. My fondness for the game then turned into a passion. I loved playing competitive golf in tournaments and have disappointed my share of partners and shared the joy of victory with them as well. The weekly 4 man skins game every Saturday and Sunday was a ritual for the 40 or more guys that played each week. In the mid 90’s about 36 of the skins players decided to take a trip to Pinehurst and a new tradition was born. We went to Pinehurst for a few years and then someone suggested we try Myrtle Beach and in 2001 we came to Myrtle for the first time. That group continues to come and play each spring. There was also a fall golf trip to the mountains of West Virginia each year. I have been on a lot of golf trips. I moved to the beach in 2007 semi-retired and had a small taxi company for a couple of years, Uber and my car getting totaled put an end to the taxi business. I got into the golf package business almost by mistake. I answered an ad looking for someone to book packages and while I had no direct experience I did have a few assests that were in my favor. I knew how to talk to golfers that wanted to book a golf trip and I knew the location of every 80+ courses at the beach, where they fell budget wise and where they were located in relation to lodging options. I was given the opportunity and have developed a nice following that trusts me year after year to try to get them the best bang for their buck. I enjoy what I do.

Scott has lived most of his life in Tennessee and left his job as an accountant in 2009 to start up Golf Excursions. He still spends a lot of his time working one on one with group leaders, but works a lot on website improvements. Scott Also boasts an impressive amount of rounds all over the South and enjoys talking about many of the great courses he has played all over the South. Scott has a bachelor degree from University of Tennessee and an MBA from Tennessee Tech. After getting his MBA he spent few years as an accountant, and for 2 years simultaneously started up Golf Excursions while working as an corporate accountant. Scott has a son Brody and 3 daughters - Sadie, Kennedy and baby Lilly. Scott enjoys going on vacation with his family to Amusement parks and the beach. During his free time he enjoys traveling, exercising, and riding bikes. Also is a licensed General Contractor.
